School defibrillator used to save teacher’s life.

Paul Williams, a 34 year old teacher from Bagillt in Flintshire had just finished teaching a guitar class when he suffered a cardiac arrest. Luckily he was spotted by staff members Janet Leach and Andrew Austen who rushed to his aid with a defibrillator.
“It came as a huge shock as there were no warnings before it happened. It was literally like someone had pulled out the plug. It was very traumatic.”

The dad of two was in a coma for 6 days, and following tests at hospital, it emerged that he had been born with a rare heart condition Brugada Syndrome. This condition can cause abnormal rapid heart rhythms called arrhythmias.
Stories like Paul’s really show the important role defibrillators can play in the chain of survival. For more information please visit: http://bit.ly/1ODHVmT
