Comedy writer Paul Mayhew-Archer was diagnosed with Parkinson’s UK five years ago. In a BBC Inside Out special he looks at what the future might hold and explains why he is determined to keep laughing.
“It is a half hour documentary in which I look at what might happen to me in the future – yes, my Parkinson’s will get worse, but there are exercise classes I can benefit from and new treatments and discoveries.
“I hope that it will convey something of the difficulty of coping with Parkinson’s whilst also being predominantly jolly and upbeat. I work in comedy, I believe fervently in the therapeutic power of laughter, my prevailing mood is optimistic and I absolutely refuse to regard the condition as the end of any road or world. Fingers crossed that comes across.”
