Barnardos are looking for foster carers that can take care of the following types of children:
of all ages,
who are brothers and sisters,
from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) backgrounds,
who have been previously trafficked or sexually exploited,
living with physical and/or learning disabilities,
child refugees fleeing persecution.
Children of all ages
Many children who need fostering are not babies or toddlers. They’re particularly interested in people who can care for teenagers.
You could make a huge difference by providing a safe and secure environment for a young person, in what can be a very challenging time.
Sibling groups
You could keep children together by fostering siblings.
Barnardos try and keep brothers and sisters together to maintain their family bond. They need foster carers to offer loving homes for children who are related by birth. You could help offer a new life to brothers and sisters in care.
Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) children
They need foster carers to provide stable homes to BME children, helping each child to thrive in their new environment.
You could make a difference in the lives of children from African, Caribbean, Asian and mixed ethnicities.
Children who were trafficked or sexually exploited
Children in care may have suffered neglect or abuse in the past.
Barnardos offer ongoing support and training, and have years of expertise supporting children with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
Children with physical and/or learning disabilities
Some children who need foster care may have mild or severe disabilities.
They are looking for foster carers who are willing to help meet their needs. We offer ongoing support and training so that together, we can help children with disabilities reach their full potential.
By choosing to become a foster carer you can make a huge difference to a child’s life – and yours. http://www.barnardos.org.uk/fosteringandadoption/fostering/children_who_need_foster_care.htm
